Spreadsheet

I had to create a spreadsheet for my next assignment. I was pretty excited to use Google Drive instead of Excel. I’m familiar with both, but I use Google Drive a lot. I’ve been using the spreadsheets lately to plan out my wedding finances! It was fun putting a mock gradebook together. It’s not really what I would be doing as a preschool teacher, but it was nice to practice and to see how it could be used in a grade school classroom.

I also had to make some graphs representing some of the information in my spreadsheets. I enjoyed doing that as well. The only thing that I found a bit challenging was remembering how to do all the formulas when putting together my spreadsheet. I love how they can be built to add, subtract, or take averages for you, but I had to refresh myself on how to do it. This project was good practice!

For this entire assignment I pretended I was a 3rd grade teacher. I didn’t feel that I could accurately complete this assignment with a preschool class in mind. My grade book included grades for language arts, science and math. I made it viewable to the public in Google Drive. You can view my grade spreadsheet here, or by clicking on the image below.

This was a two-part assignment. My next duty was to create a form also using Google Drive. This was fun! I just had to create an online survey or form that could be filled out with a variety of different forms of questions. For this assignment, I imagined the same 3rd grade class. I wanted to do something interesting, so I created a survey about a class holiday party. It was for students to fill out to inform me, the teacher, about what they wanted to do during the class party and what they were going to contribute. I used questions with multiple choice, grid and check box answers. I even had a few open answer questions where students could type their thoughts. I then had to fill out the form a few times as if I was one of the students. You can view my data form here or by clicking on the picture below.
